Mashing Buttons

a couple of gamers blogging about games

I can’t sing.

No really.

Can’t.

I mean I’m at Shatner level.

I say this to highlight the absolute improbability of me ever, EVER, playing a game like SingStar.  But then a funny thing happened one night after watching Sherlock Holmes amidst the Boxing Day sales we happened upon the Rockband instruments pack at what was then a ridiculously low price and being huge Beatles fans decided to buy it a couple of days later.

More SingStar games followed and eventually we built up a pretty big library in a matter of a month or two.  Now I’m big Beatles fan but I’m also a big Queen fan and this was one of the packs that we bought, mainly for me as Tracey barely knew the songs.

As you may have noticed this site is very much to do with Greg and my gaming experiences and to keep you updated on our progress and so I thought it might be nice to pick a song on SingStar and break the 9000 point mark.  Which as I’ve tried to illustrate is really difficult for me as I am tone deaf and as far away musically than even Shatner (hey he at least had a pretty cool album with “Has Been”).

So the song I’ve chosen is the absurd “Fat Bottomed Girls” by Queen of course.  As I type this my voice is pretty much gone and I have managed to reach the high score of 8818 with photographic proof.  It is my goal to crack that 9000 point mark and achieve ‘Sing Star’ status.

I will keep you posted.

I have done karaoke… but I've never passed a single song on Rockband or the later Guitar Hero games on the singing path.

And the problem we previously discussed seems to have been fixed. Kudos!

I once got 100% on Guitar Hero “Paint it Black” on the PS2 using the guitar, I've gotten 100% more than a few times on easy in Rockband but am yet to progress to medium – as for the singing I'm a disaster.

Medium's not too hard, actually. :)

I am not going to bust Lee for playing on Easy. If he enjoys that level, then I certainly won't hold it against him. I know there are people who play on the harder difficulty levels who look on the people who play on Medium with contempt, which isn't right.

It just hasn't occurred to me to even have a look at it – have been wondering about the difference. I'll crack 9000 first then I'll have a look ;)

I really should start more games on harder levels, it's not like I'm new to gaming now :)

But I certainly don't judge others for playing on easy… yet.

You know, cracking 9000 might be easier on a harder level (more notes and such).

I never considered that to be honest. I will check it out next time, I've got an experiment to conduct first though – more to come

I discovered it doesn't work that way ;)
