Quite a while ago I bought a second hand, oh hang on that’s right they like to call them pre-owned now. A while ago I bought a pre-owned game from JB HiFi. For those outside of Australia JB HiFi is an electrical goods retailer who happens to have a really good DVD and games selection in general.
I swore I would never buy another pre-owned game from them again.
Unlike other places I’ve bought pre-owned games JB HiFi wanted me to furnish them with my personal details including address and contact phone number. I’m told it because of their second hand goods trading licence. I’m not doubting this but I am confused why at least two other game retailers whom I have bought pre-owned from (one quite regularly) don’t require this of me.
At the end of the day I don’t REALLY care but my indignation is fuelled by the principle of the matter and it’s my choice to not give them my patronage.
Which is what my full intention was.
That was of course until I spotted by chance my current television obsession sitting in the pre-owned games.
The PS3 Lost game for $9.
The game is from all accounts that I’ve read a fairly average one and really only good for fans of the show. Which works out pretty well for me as I fall well within that criteria. Nine dollars though is a pretty sweet price for a game that’s going to give me the chance to run around ‘the island’ carrying a torch. I would be surprised if the smoke monster doesn’t chase you around too which will be several shades of awesome.
So that was it, my indignation cast aside for a measly nine dollars.
I don’t really regret it too much.
