The measure of a man is what he does with power…
It’s been a while since I played the first two God of War games on the PS2. I loved those games because they were so well put together, I liked characters and the action was great. I didn’t bother picking up the God of War collection for the PS3, even with better graphics I’ve already finished them, they’re done. God of War 3 arrived in the mail today.
Welcome home.
I love the way that the PS3 games that I’ve been playing lately have been using their credits really well, especially the sequels like Modern Warfare 2 which replays scenes from the first game in the opening to remind you where you’ve come from and tying the game in.
God Of War 3 does the same with imagery relating back to Kratos’ story so far and it served it’s purpose well to remind me of the previous games that as I said have been while since I played them. You do have to sit through the credits though which I know won’t sit well with everyone, I hit that X button more than once hoping to get straight down to it despite enjoying the visuals.
Obviously my memories of the series are seen through the impressive graphics of the PS2 games so it was awesome to see Kratos so highly detailed here. In fact at one stage of the opening sequence I thought it was better looking than the Clash of the Titans remake.
So after establishing shots of the assault on Mount Olympus where I assumed the gods would be sitting around eating Ferrero Rocher (that might be an Australian thing so ignore if you don’t know what I’m talking about) it’s straight into the action and it took me all of about ten seconds to remember how to reap bloody vengeance of these sons of bitches (at least that’s what I was screaming – I get very excited over my games!). I was more than grateful they didn’t mess around with the controls.
I also love that the standard playing difficulty level is GOD.
So I only played around fifteen minutes and then ran to this blog to scream that it’s gorram awesome and I missed real button mashing games like this. It’s perfect for this blog, want to pick up a tree? Mash that O button! Want to hack at a giant horse-spider-crab-snake-water creature? Mash those buttons!!!
Yes I’m already in love with this game. I also like that since I imported it the game has an R18 rating on it, no kids in my house will playing thank you Australian government.
Yes, it is amazing playing games that are designed for an older audience, though it is nicer when your government treats you like an adult.

I'm reasonably sure that the content itself is the same in the Australian version as the UK one but here the rating is MA15+ (the highest we can go) so kids can still access material that in concept probably shouldn't be.
We will talk about this very soon though
